Eyes Wide Shut

Our Megafest 2013 was extraordinary! There were many amazing events. Of course, one of the major highlights of the conference was Oprah’s Lifeclass with Bishop T.D. Jakes. It was great to see these two leaders expound upon topics that affect the core of our society. It was especially exciting to see them address issues that have deep implications for all of us. I believe the discussion went far beyond fatherlessness.

It caused me to see many relationships from a different perspective. First and foremost, I recognize that every aspect of every relationship counts. This is something that seems obvious at first glance, but I found that there are many times that we take this for granted. In our business we can forget to spend that extra ten minutes to have a quality conversation with a parent, child, or other loved one to show them just how much we care.

I have heard many say that recognition of the importance of these moments comes with maturity. I believe it comes with the realization of what is really important in life. Accomplishments and achievements are great. Growing to your greatest potential is key to fulfilling your purpose in life. However, we must not forget that taking care of our relationships with those closest to us is a major part of that equation.

Strive to achieve. Discover the greatness that is inside of you. Live on purpose. Make your dreams a reality. Do all of these things not just in your professional life, but in the part of your life that can easily be overlooked. Open your eyes to the amazing people all around you like your mate, your parents, your children, and all of the other family and friends. If you take the time to look, you may actually see something in them that leads to the discovery of something even greater inside of yourself.

Thank you Bishop Jakes and Ms. Oprah Winfrey for reminding us to open our eyes.
